Our Callers
Seniorline receives calls from men and women in every part of Ireland. While callers range in age from late fifties to late eighties, the majority are in their 60s and 70s. Callers may be single, widowed, separated or married, and we receive approximately a similar volume of calls from female and male callers. Every week we receive new callers to the service. In common with other national help lines, we have our share of people who phone us very regularly and who are helped by this constant contact. Our callers tend to be living at home rather than in a nursing home or institution. Most callers are Irish - calls to Seniorline do not as yet reflect Ireland’s changing ethnic profile.
Callers seek information on entitlements, other organisations or services, or look for clarification on topical items as reported in media.
Many callers have few people to talk to, and can receive comfort knowing they can phone Seniorline when they need to. Having an opportunity to discuss a problem or a worry can help the to caller clarify the situation for themselves. They can gain a new perspective on the situation, identify a new source of support and may see a way forward hitherto denied.
